The cunning enemy
of our souls has a beginning has given much result: "Divide and
conquer." As a result there are hundreds and hundreds of Christians called
sects or groups. Each privileged to be the sole possessor of truth fights,
though he can not demonstrate in real life.
The only way that
exists to achieve unity of God's people, loyal to his word, is not through the
truth of the particular individuals or groups, but through common reality. The
biblical basis for this is the commandment of the Savior himself, expressed by
St. Paul in 2-Co.6.14-18, lest we associate with common people but with other
believers, and so we get to be as integrated as members the same body as the
body of Christ, namely, the true Church.
"That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men in their
deceitful craftiness the wiles of error, but speaking the truth in love, we may
grow up in all things into Him who is the head that is, Christ, from whom the
whole body, being fitted and held together by every supporting ligament help
each other, according to the proper working of each individual part, grows and
builds itself in love. "(Ef.4.14-16)
"That there
should be no schism in the body, but that all members have the same care for
one another. So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one
member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of
Christ, and members in particular. "(1-Co.12.25-27)
